POSITION SUMMARY

The Lifeguard is a critical part of aquatic safety at the Branson RecPlex.  The primary functions of this position are to ensure the safety of pool patrons and provide hospitality and service to guests. This is a part-time seasonal position and the hours fluctuate depending on weather and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Requires a regular and consistent physical presence in the City of Branson AquaPlex facility.  The duties include the following:   

  1. Behaves in a manner that promotes a productive, healthy, safe and positive work environment by:

  4. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
  5. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  6. Ensures cleanliness of pool area.
  7. Completes end of shift duties.
  8. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

*Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Possess knowledge of general pool rules.
  • Skillful Swimming abilities including 200 yard unassisted swim, 1 minute treading water, and retrieval of 10 lb brick from 13’ diving well.
  • Ability to teach swim strokes to groups preferred.
  • Ability to recognize swimmers in need of assistance.
  • Ability to recognize, respond and remedy unsafe situations.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and ages.
  • Ability to speak effectively before guests and team members.
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands and working environment, which follow, is representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee is required to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds with assistance or specialized equipment. Ability to stand, sit, hear, and maneuver throughout pool deck for majority of shifts. Works outdoors in various temperatures.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed in outdoor weather conditions mainly during summer season.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to pool chemicals, fumes, and potential loud noises. 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Attending High School or above.
  • 6 months in directly related field preferred.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION

  • Must be able to successfully pass lifeguard certification class.
  • Attain CPR certification.
